India is on the cusp of explosive growth & development with new-age technologies and entrepreneurial ventures robustly moving forward. Yet it is also a nation where the majority of the populace is employed in the unorganized and agricultural sectors. There is a great need for assistance in various fields such as education, skill development, healthcare access, clean water, and hygienic living conditions. People below the poverty line need serious assistance to uplift themselves economically and be part of the growth of the country.
This is a task not only for the Government of India and the states but something that the whole country should contribute to. Recognizing this need the G.o.I ushered in the CSR Act with modifications that mandated spending a part of any organization’s profits or revenues towards social welfare causes. This has provided much-needed direction and impetus to organizations that are involved in CSR activities via a multitude of initiatives. Organizations now contribute and execute socially relevant programs through their CSR route. Some of the organizations involved in CSR activities employ dedicated Teams to carry out the necessary activities whilst the majority of companies identify third-party organizations which have a penchant for and are adept at social welfare activities. The task of these organizations is to identify trusts/companies that have the potential to deliver such initiatives making sure the CSR funds deployed are prudently well-spent.

Any organization that has a prescribed turnover and or profits is required to spend a portion of its generated revenues on CSR activities. Vaaname Yellai is a conduit and enabler of such activities, working in many of the vital focus areas.
